Open the [[https://idm.gwdg.de/|IDM portal]] and log in as usual. If the “Login with LDAP” tab is initially selected during login, select “Login with single sign-on” and continue with the login.

Select the MFA administration/MFA management.

Select the EduMFA Authenticator App under Security/Security.

Give the MFA device a name (e.g. your smartphone model)

Scan the QR code with the MFA app on your smartphone

Follow the steps on your screen to confirm your identity.

Your backup code will then be displayed. You should save this as you will need it if you no longer have access to the MFA app or your smartphone.

If you now log out and log in again, your MFA device will be displayed and you can confirm your identity using the MFA APP or your smartphone.
