We cannot connect the email account directly with the settings that Microsoft makes available to us within Outlook.

First close Outlook and then open the Windows Start menu (by pressing the Windows key).

Search for Control Panel and select it.

Change the display in the top right-hand corner to Large icons and select Mail (Microsoft Outlook).

Select Email Accounts and in the next step select New… in the top left-hand corner.

In the newly opened window, first select Manual configuration, POP or IMAP followed by your e-mail address and your previously set Anmeldedaten aus dem GWDG IDM-Portal.

Finally, under Additional settings, check the box for The outgoing mail server (SMTP) requires authentication and adjust the ports and encryption.

The connection test should be successful.

After you have clicked Finish, you can open Outlook. Your account should now be set up.
